Do you think with the Haiti earthquake and the Chile earthquake there is going to be a lot more disasters soon?
i know it’ll sound stupid when I say this but anyway when i just heard about the Chile earthquake I immediately thought of 2012. -_- lol do u think there will be something big then?

The Chile and Haiti Earthquake were very powerful disaster that killed many people. But that do not have anything to do with 2012, please get over it.
The Chile Earthquake was an 8.8 magnitude, while the Haiti Earthquake was a 7.0 magnitude. Even though the Chile Earthquake was a more powerful magnitude, It didn’t kill as many people as the Haiti Earth quake because it happened on the coast, where not many people lived.
There will always be more disaster. There could be a Hurricane tomorrow, or an earthquake, Disasters are inevitable., 2012 is just a hoax.

Experts said a few years ago that Haiti was at risk for another serious quake and they were right. As for Chile, as the second linked article says, "Coastal Chile has a history of deadly earthquakes, according to the USGS. Since 1973, there have been 13 quakes of magnitude 7.0 or higher." None of this has anything to do with the 2012 doomsday predictions. Those predictions are unscientific nonsense.

This is NOT an Astronomy question. However natural disasters occur regularly somewhere in the world.

It relies heavily on whether it is man made or not… the natural disasters that is. If your anyone with some common sense and an open thinking mind, the frequency of these quakes are picking up. They may be due in part to HAARP tech or the coming polar shift. Whether this has any tie in to 2012 or not I can’t answer, but I believe the quakes will become an everyday part of life

You know, I’ve been monitoring all the hype surrounding the 2012 doomsday prophecies. I’ve watched all the shows, have been to all the websites and blogs, and have researched all the literature. I’ve come to a conclusion, the conspiracists are very accurate! I don’t believe that a large community of believers, including the Mayans, the Chinese, and others could have just taken a shot in the dark here. I mean, really, how could they be so accurate? Predicting the increase of natural disasters and economic depression within a 3 year time frame (2009-2012, is quite impressive and even more convincing. And I don’t want to hear plate tectonics, 2 major earthquakes in 2 months! A pacific-wide tsunami warning! Coincidence, some may think so, but it is because they are either afraid or much too ignorant to realize these possible warnings of a transformation yet to come. Remember, no organism, with the exception of some types of Achaea bacteria (very ancient bacterial life) have been around since the beginning. Species have come, and they have gone. It’s true, humans as a species have a better chance of survival than our extinct predecessors, but to say that extinction events caused by nature, solar activity, or any other type of phenomenon is silly…well that’s just silly in itself.

This is all very scary yes, but it doesn’t mean its the end, Earthquakes have happened in a short-term many many times before, It’s called nature! Last I’ve checked the human race is still here on Earth after all that!
Now about 2012, I believe its a bunch of lies people have made a big deal about it. The movie 2012 that came out in 2009 made a big profit in the first few weeks, and this whole theory about the end of the world has made the public so scared about it, giving money into the pockets of others.
It might be the start of a new era, doesn’t mean we all die, the Human race will still thrive for the next few hundred years and when our time is up, we can only blame ourselves for our selfish acts upon the environment.
As for the Earthquakes, its all normal.

First of all, I feel so sorry about the earthquake in Haiti. In 2008, there was an earthquake in Sichuan, China. The earthquake in China was very terrible, and millions people died in the earthquake. The earthquakes are hard to prevent, people have nothing to do with this except going to another places. The people lose everything, including their families, friends and all the properties. I hope the people in Haiti will get everything they had before.
