Scorpions – Hurricane 2000!!!

Hurricane 2000

It’s early morning
The sun comes out
Last night was shaking
And pretty loud
My cat is purring
And scratches my skin
So what is wrong
With another sin
The is hungry
She needs to tell
So give her inches
And feed her well
More days to come
New places to go
I’ve got to leave
It’s time for a show

Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane

My body is burning
It starts to shout
Desire is coming
It breaks out loud
is in cages
Till storm breaks loose
Just have to make it
With someone I choose
The night is calling
I have to go
The wolf is hungry
He runs the show
He’s licking his lips
He’s ready to win
On the hunt tonight
For love at first sting

Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane

How many hurricanes have you endured in your lifetime?

Now, I realize that if you don’t live near a coastline, you are not going to be having to worry about hurricanes. But in 1969, when Hurricane Camille hit the coast of Mississippi. She then headed north and tore up a bunch of states that normally don’t get much action from hurricanes.

314 and counting

Moving to America is an Exciting Experience for Most People

If you are planning on moving to America, this is the right time to do it, with new homes being built everyday there are many new openings across the US and Canada. Moving to America can be very scary for people who are not fluent in English but there is no need to worry. Many other languages are spoken in the United States besides English. Not only is America the biggest economic powerhouse in the world it is also known for its diversity of cultures and religions. This is one of the main reasons why so many people decide to move to America. The trip can be very long for a lot of people depending on where you are coming from, the most common way for people to get to America is through the air, when you are traveling from another country into America you will need a passport. A passport is an official document given by your national government, which tells government officials that you are legally traveling internationally. It will also tell government officials the name and nationality of the holder as well as date of birth, sex, and where the traveler was born. Although there is a common misconception that if you have a passport you are legally given rights to enter another country, which is not what a passport does. There are many laws concerning international travel that have to be dealt with before traveling internationally.

Once you get into America there are many different places that you could live depending on what kind of weather you like. The United States is geographically a very big country and because of the size of it there are options for people moving to America to choose the type of climate they would like to live in. The United States has areas where the temperature has dropped to below –80 degrees like in Alaska, as well as locations where the temperature has been over 130 degrees. So as you can see there is a wide range of temperatures in the United States. Also, the weather is different all over the United States; states in the West and Southwest are more likely to have warmer temperatures compared to states in the Northeast. Also, depending on where you decide to live in America you may be more prove to natural disasters such as tornados or hurricanes. Recently the Gulf Coast has been devastated by a few different hurricanes from which they are still rebuilding. Through the rebuilding process many different people from all over America have come together to work on rebuilding this area of the country. This has given the United States a strong sense of nationalism and a feeling of everyone standing strong together through a natural disaster.

What is the average category for hurricanes?

I have to do a science thing about hurricanes and I wanted to know what hurricanes average category-wise. I think it’s Category 3 but i need some clarification.

A cat five is the strongest.

Getting the dirt on hurricanes of the future
When a hurricane comes around, it’s best to get out of the way–unless you have a thing for risky behavior! Or, perhaps, you’re in the business of studying them. If that’s the case, a good way to get data out of a hurricane is to head straight into one. That could involve a white-knuckled flight into the eye of a storm in a specially designed aircraft called a “Hurricane Hunter.”

What can be done to reduce the impact of future hurricanes?

The effects of climate change mean that hurricanes could become stronger and more frequent in the future. What can be done to reduce the impact of future hurricanes on people, the natural environment and the built environment.

Thanks!

1.) Conserve wetlands. Tidal flats can hold a lot of vegetation which serve to minimize the impact of storm surges caused when Hurricanes leave the sea, pushing large volumes ahead of them. New orleans suffered massive flooding because a substantial amount of the sea grass surrounding the mississippi delta had been dredged to allow more ship passage. The loss of the estuary meant there was nothing to buffer the effects of the storm surge as it washed ashore. In asian countries large tracts of mangrove flats are destroyed for shrimp farming. It is productive for a year, but the tide soon washes all the nutrients back out to sea, leaving a barren sand flat. Another cause of mangrove destruction is development of hotels for the tourist trade. The mangroves block access to the sea. Like marsh grass, mangroves are the best barriers to storm surges, tidal waves and tidal erosion.

2.) Develop bio fuels and alternate sources of energy. America burns thousands of tons of fossil fuels every day to generate electricity. European nations rely much more on nuclear and solar power. The problem in America is the government is influenced by private industries. This has stalled efforts to develop cleaner, renewable sources of energy. America has enough coal to last another 200 years, but coal generates lots of CO2 which is non-renewable. It also can produce SO2 if left untreated. Both are causes of global warming and SO2 causes acid rain as well.

3.) Develop architecture suitable for hurricane zones. Buildings have begun to be specially reinforced in earthquake zones and perhaps if hurricanes increase in frequency, they will be redesigned to withstand high winds and storm surges.
