Helping with disaster relief?

I really want to get involved with volunteering my services for disaster relief and third world country development. My ideal goal would be to go through med school and join the defence force as a medical officer to render my services. But I’d like to know other ideas for careers or how to be vountarily involved in this kind of work?

pl get your degree first then u hv 40 yrs to do it. or during internships or summer breaks u volunteer with various NGOs. its a noble idea and very good future in such things. keep the interest alive and take care

Just seems strange to have two such powerful earthquakes within such a short period of time, at least to me.

Actually, not really. On average there are 120 major earthquakes a year. It’s not some 2012 end-of-the-world coincidence, this is actually pretty normal.

They always predict a bunch of hurricanes. It doesn’t mean anything though, that’s just the hurricane center trying to justify getting funding and the news stations scaring you into watching their broadcasts. If we concern ourselves only with the storms that are coming or here, maybe the media will stop sensationalizing everything and start telling us the truth… By the way – I think that the estimate this year for landfalling hurricanes was 7 – we haven’t had any…

I am comparing the September 11 and Pearl Harbor disasters. I need help in writing a three part type good thesis statement for it…can anyone help?

The destruction at Pearl Harbor and the disaster of September 11 were both surprise attacks that changed the course of our nation and brought about planned responses that had ramifications in every aspect of our country.

The three points mentioned in the above thesis
1. surprise element
2. changed course (entered WWII, entered war on terrorism)
3. ramifications (Japanese concentration camps then, airport security today.)

Instead you have to look at long-term trends. These show that Arctic summer sea ice is decreasing by 232,000 square miles a decade, nearly 2.5 times the area of Great Britain.

On current trends it will still become ice-free in summer by around 2060.
