Hurricane Katrina Part One
http://www.hurricanetrack.com/posters/dvd2005.html
This segment is from my 2005 DVD entitled “Tracking the Hurricanes: 2005″. Here, in part one, I begin tracking hurricane Katrina with my colleague, Mike Watkins, in south Florida. From there, Mike and I head over to the coast of Mississippi to complete the mission of observing and documenting one of the deadliest hurricanes in U.S. history. However, the story does not end with landfall as we will see in part two.

Why are conservatives questioning Obama’s authority to send earthquake disaster relief to Haiti?
where was the GOP outrage when GWB sent tsunami relief?….or when GWB send AIDS relief to africa?…or when GWB sent earthquake relief to china and india?
republicans are once again demonstrating the hypocrisy of the phrase ‘compassionate conservatism’.
and u wonder why McCain only got 3% of the black vote in 2008.
Have you noticed that since the election, Conservatives are against practically everything that Obama does ?

What former Miami Hurricanes baseball players have baseball cards?
Can anybody let me know what former Miami Hurricanes baseball players have had baseball cards made of them?
I’m mainly looking for the prospects in recent years, maybe from 2005 – present.
Alex Rodriguez never played for the Hurricanes. He signed a letter of intent, and backed out of it to go to the MLB. He was going to also be the Canes quarterback.
alex rodriguez i can tell u

What was worst out of the 4: 9/11, 04 Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, or the Haiti Earthquakes?
Well, 9/11 was simply a crime and can’t really be compared to a natural disaster. And most of the "damage" 9/11 did was because we hysterically over-reacted to it and started several pointless wars. (just as OBL was hoping we would, go figure.)
Katrina did a fair amount of economic damage, but the death toll was minor. so it’s not in the same league as the other two.
The initial death toll in the tsunami was greater, but the damage it did only extended 1/4 mile inland at most. That means in the regions devastated by it, infrastructure, emergency services, medical services, etc were for the most part still intact. So the aftermath was relatively painless.
Haiti though saw mercali 12 movement (EVERY building collapses or is badly damaged) over a vast urban area, an area that didn’t exactly have modern infrastructure or emergency services to begin with. Its death toll will continue to rise in the weeks and months to come, and it will take decades to rebuild. It’s already in the top ten most disastrous earthquakes of all time, and may well make the top five.
Haiti gets my vote.

Can someone tell me the name of a charity I saw featured on CNN that provides disaster relief in a white crate?
They were featured in a segment on CNN almost like an infomercial and they have packaged everything to provide a temporary shelter and relief in white crates. I believe it included a tent, food, blanket, perhaps even some tools… I’ve tried searching for the name of the charity and am not finding it.
C.A.R.E. package was a kind of recognizable "Symbol"
The first CARE Packages were U.S. Army surplus "10-in-1" food parcels intended to provide one meal for 10 soldiers during the planned invasion of Japan. We obtained them at the end of World War II and began a service that let Americans send the packages to friends and families in Europe, where millions were in danger of starvation. Ten dollars bought a CARE Package and guaranteed that its addressee would receive it within four months.
When the "10-in-1" parcels ran out, we began assembling our own food packages, greatly assisted by donations from American companies. At first, senders had to designate a specific person as the recipient, but soon CARE was flooded with donations to send CARE Packages to "a hungry occupant of a thatched cottage," "a school teacher in Germany," and so on.
Decades ago, we largely phased out the CARE Package as we expanded the breadth of our work, focusing on long-term projects in addition to emergency relief. However, it remains a powerful symbol of the compassion and generosity of those who support our vision of a world free of poverty and suffering.
